Chapel Words

Privacy

Chapel Words: Catholic Puzzle is operated by Narthex Studio in North Carolina, United States. Contact hello@chapelwords.com about privacy or your data.

This first release

Puzzle progress, streak, text size and reminder settings stay on your device. Daily reminders are scheduled locally. Family circles, online clue reports and gameplay counts are not enabled in this release. We do not receive your puzzle answers or progress. There are no ads, tracking SDKs or analytics scripts.

Deleting the app or clearing this site's browser storage removes its local data, subject to any backup and restore features controlled by your device or browser. Please check those services' settings if you also want to remove their backups.

Hosting and downloads

Cloudflare hosts the website and puzzle downloads. It processes request information, including IP addresses, to deliver content and prevent abuse. Provider records follow the applicable service arrangements; request metadata may identify a visitor. Content downloads still contact our host while online gameplay services are paused. We do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Our providers process information to supply hosting, security and email services.

Earlier web profiles

If you made a family-circle profile in an earlier release, its server-issued device code, credential hash, chosen name, memberships and daily results may still exist, along with circle names. A device that retains its profile credential can use Settings → Family → Leave and delete while new circles are paused. This removes the profile, memberships, daily results and profile-keyed quotas. Empty circles are removed; circles that still have members, including their names, remain. Daily results record the date, completion, hints and word count. These records can reveal participation in a Catholic game.

Deletion does not link or erase earlier clue reports, daily network-derived abuse/deduplication codes or aggregate puzzle counts. Reports include the puzzle, answer, reason, note and a daily sender code. These codes are made from the internet address, date and a secret key, and are treated as personal data. The server's cleanup rules make reports and daily results eligible for removal after 90 days, idle profiles after 365 days, and daily abuse/deduplication codes after two days. Cleanup runs occasionally after API requests, so it can be delayed when the service is quiet. Aggregate puzzle counts have no automatic expiry. Provider backup records follow the applicable service arrangements.

Contact support before clearing an old device's data, which can remove the credential needed for deletion. We cannot identify an old profile solely from an email address; we will explain the available verification and deletion options. Pausing new collection does not make prior records anonymous.

Support messages

If you or a parent contacts support, we receive the email address, message and any details supplied. Please avoid sensitive information or personal details about children. We use messages to answer requests and fix problems. Support correspondence is handled in our email service, separately from the game database. Its retention also depends on that service; the game does not automatically erase support messages. Contact us to request deletion.

Children

Children can play the local puzzles with their families. This release does not offer online profiles, names, messaging or family circles. A parent or guardian should handle support correspondence. Contact us if you believe a child has sent personal information so we can address it.

Rights and international processing

We operate in the United States, and our providers may process information in other countries. Write to hello@chapelwords.com to request access, correction or deletion of support information. We may ask for only the information needed to verify the request. We cannot retrieve puzzle progress stored only on your device.

Where European data protection law applies, the basis for secure delivery and ordinary support is our legitimate interest in running a safe service and answering requests, or steps you request before a contract where appropriate. Applicable rights include access, correction, erasure, restriction, objection and portability where available, and complaint to a supervisory authority. Ask us about applicable transfer safeguards.

Changes

Before introducing online circles or other new data collection, we will update this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures and provide any required choices.
